A ground breaking ceremony was held July 18 to mark the start of construction on the Ohio Department of Mental Health’s Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare expansion project. This 297,876-square-foot addition and renovation project located in Sagamore Hills will consolidate two existing mental healthcare facilities into one campus.
The project will add 200,000 square feet of new space to the existing 100,000-square-foot building. The two existing patient units will be renovated and eight new units will be added for a total of 10 patients units capable of accommodating 258 patients. Each unit will include support space for staff, dining and recreation areas for patients and dedicated clinical space. The facility will also have a staff education and training area, full gymnasium, therapy space, courtyard, salon, courtroom and a large group social center with media area, lounge and meeting space.
The anticipated completion date for this project is March 2016. Check back for updates and progress photos.
