Akron General Emergency Department

This new, Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department facility for Cleveland Clinic Akron General will be able to accommodate 65,000 – 75,000 visits per year. The 57,500 square feet ED, located on the first floor of the new addition, will include 61 patient care spaces, a new helipad located on the roof level and a bridge that will connect the ED to the main hospital. The second floor of the addition will provide support space for ED staff, as well as shell space for a future patient care area.

The Emergency DepartmentĀ incorporates:

  • Single occupancy triage, treatment and exam rooms
  • Six Urgent Care rooms
  • Eight Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) rooms
  • Five Behavioral Health rooms
  • Level 1 Trauma Care with four dedicatedĀ trauma/resuscitation rooms
  • Dedicated CT and X-Ray diagnostic services
  • Clinical and Ancillary support services
