Wooster Community Hospital

Transitional Care Unit

Hasenstab Architects provided programming and architectural design services for a 18,500-square-foot Transitional Care Unit at Wooster Community Hospital. This specialized unit provides skilled nursing care to patients who no longer need to be hospitalized, but still require nursing assistance and rehabilitation services before returning home. The 22-bed unit features large patient rooms with private bathrooms and a central dining room—all designed with warm, autumn colors to give the space a home-like feeling.

The new unit also incorporates cozy seating areas and a small café to make visiting with family a little more comfortable. The largest area of the transitional unit is the dedicated Physical and Occupational Therapy room.  The accessibility of having these services in the transitional unit expedites the process of returning patients to their daily lives.
