Where is your hometown?

I grew up in Hartville, Ohio.

Education & Experience

I received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Kent State University in 1999. The self-discipline to complete the demanding program at Kent came from my military background. I proudly served in the U.S. Army’s Corps of Engineers from 1994-2000 where I achieved the rank of sergeant (E-5).

My wife Jennifer and I are quickly approaching 19 years of marital bliss. We have two sons, Nicholas and Will. Both boys have developed a love for soccer so in between games and practices we also try to sneak in hiking on the incredible trails found throughout northeast Ohio.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

The ability to create something that is meaningful, not only to the Owner but to the people who use those spaces.

What might people not know about you?

I’m a drummer. I started playing in the high school band and have never put the sticks down. Please don’t ask me to play Crazy Train by Ozzy though…I can’t take that song anymore!

What do you do in your spare time?

You mean besides soccer? My goal is to complete a hike of the entire Appalachian Trail within 10 years, which means weekends with no soccer are spent trying to bust out miles on the trail.

What Memberships/Causes you are passionate about?

Elves & More of Northeast Ohio. A good friend and I started this organization in 2006 and to date have given away over 11,000 brand new bicycles to children living within impoverished communities in Northeast Ohio. The bike is a gift of possibility to a child. They have the ability to get connected to something bigger than what they may see every day on their street corners.

What’s your favorite part of this job?

I love the planning and initial design of the project. Understanding the client’s vision and goals and then developing a space that meets that vision is pretty exciting.
