Lake Anna YMCA
Akron Area YMCA
Hasenstab Architects provided professional design services as lead architect – with architectural consultant Doty & Miller Architects – for Lake Anna YMCA Community Center in Barberton, Ohio. The new facility was built in cooperation with Summa Barberton Hospital and the City of Barberton and was designed to integrate and share facilities between the Akron Area YMCA, Summa Barberton Hospital and the Barberton Senior Center.
The senior center occupies approximately 10,000 square feet; the hospital occupies 5,000 square feet; and the YMCA occupies approximately 42,000 square feet of the Community Center. The project scope included community, craft, billiard, classroom and meeting rooms for the Barberton Senior Center. The Lake Anna YMCA includes game areas, a gymnasium, locker rooms, a competition pool, leisure aquatics area, sauna, fitness and weight rooms, a family adventure center, administrative offices and classrooms. The physical rehabilitation and wellness center is staffed by Barberton Citizens Hospital. Many of the amenities of this facility are easily shared by all occupants of the building to provide a facility which is both functional and efficient.
