STEM School – NIHF
Akron Public Schools
In a partnership with the City of Akron, Akron Public Schools, the Ohio School Facilities Commission and The National Inventors Hall of Fame, Hasenstab Architects provided complete architectural and interior design services for an 80,000 square foot middle school attached to the existing National Inventors Hall of Fame in downtown Akron. The project consisted of new construction and renovation.
The National Inventors Hall of Fame School – Center for Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Learning occupies a new 50,000 square foot addition, along with approximately 30,000 square feet of renovated and integrated space to the existing facility.
Technology incorporated into the STEM classrooms includes digital projectors, amplification systems and state-of-the-art computer network services. Mechanical and electrical designs include full air conditioning and an addressable fire alarm system within the infrastructure to enhance facility-wide safety.
Programmed space includes 16 classrooms, six laboratories, two special education classrooms, a gym, dining room, commercial kitchen, stage, media center, art classroom and administrative spaces.
This project is LEED® Silver Certified.
