Aultman Hospital
ICU Renovation
The ICU renovation project at Aultman Hospital included space for 20 Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) beds, 18 Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) beds and 10 Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) beds. Improvements included larger patient rooms with expanded family space, updated technology and enhanced security features. The objective was to create a patient room which promotes a patient-centered care model and encourages family participation in a warm, comforting environment.
Two existing undersized patient rooms were combined to create a 340 square foot MICU room that provides separated work zones (Respiratory & Nursing), clear space for equipment, and a dedicated family zone. Decentralized concepts for charting, supplies and medication to reduce staff travel time, improve staff efficiency and allow more time for direct patient care were incorporated into the design
