Bon Secours Mercy Health
Sleep Medicine Center
Bon Secours Mercy Health engaged Hasenstab Architects to design a new Sleep Medicine Center. The project began with a conceptual study to define the program requirements and evaluate the feasibility of renovating an existing building to accommodate a new sleep lab. After the program was confirmed and finalized, the design team proceeded with the renovation.
The facility combines services under one roof, providing dedicated space for both the sleep lab and a physician’s practice. A shared waiting area helps optimize space and facilitate patient flow.
The sleep lab side features eight private sleep rooms, including one pediatric room designed with additional space to accommodate a parent or guardian overnight. A central control room supports operations, providing workspace for four to six staff members.
The Sleep Medicine Center’s design emphasized a high-end aesthetic, incorporating refined finishes to create a comfortable and inviting environment. A cut stone feature wall with frosted signage creates an elegant backdrop to the Welcome Desk, offering a warm, non-institutional first impression of the lobby. Comfort was a top priority for monitor rooms: custom tufted headboards trimmed with stained wood establish a less clinical sleeping environment that is cleanable for use by multiple patients. The Physician Suite features custom millwork that seamlessly integrates conferencing needs with technology.
