Engineering Building Renovation & Expansion
Lakeland Community College partnered with Hasenstab Architects to renovate and expand its engineering building to better serve local industry needs.
The project added 14,484 square feet to the campus’ existing engineering building, transforming the facility into a state-of-the-art training center with modern classrooms, labs, and industry technologies to significantly boost regional workforce development.
Designed with input from local employers, the updated building featured specialized industrial labs, including:
- Robotics Labs for CNC and Welding
- Construction Management Lab
- Shared Materials Testing Lab
- Shared Process Simulator Training Lab
- Industrial Fabrication Lab
- 3D Printing Lab
- Indoor & Outdoor Industrial Welding Labs
A new entryway and office spaces were included as part of the addition. Construction of the addition ran concurrently with interior renovations to meet an expedited project schedule. Close coordination between the design and construction teams ensured minimal disruptions to campus operations throughout the process.
The Hasenstab team also prepared materials including concepts designs, site/floor plans, perspectives, schedules and construction cost estimates to assist Lakeland Community College in securing an EDA grant.
