Monroe County Community College
Health Sciences Simulation Center
Hasenstab Architects was engaged by The Collaborative to work as a health education design consultant on the Monroe County Community College Health Education Building Renovation & Addition. This project encompasses a 4,500 square foot renovation to the existing building, as well as a 28,000 square foot addition.
The Hasenstab team designed the 12,800 square foot Health Sciences Simulation Center to provide a realistic training and testing environment for nursing and respiratory therapy students. The program features three high-fidelity simulated patient rooms with dedicated control rooms and associated support areas, including spaces where students and instructors can debrief after simulation exercises.
The simulation rooms mirror an actual hospital room setting and feature manikins ranging from premature infants to adults. Multi-angle cameras and adjacent control rooms allow the instruction to review and evaluate the simulation exercises.
The design team worked to create coordinated construction documents, including equipment plans and schedules indicating the basis of design manufacturer/model for new equipment.
